Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) is being designed to introduce teachers to efficient and effective techniques of teaching English as a second language. It aims to equip teachers to teach English across the four language skills, with a focus on grammar and vocabulary. This course is based on five modules: background to language teaching and learning; components of language; teaching listening and speaking; teaching reading and writing and lesson planning and assessment techniques.
This will be a hybrid cohort-based course with a combination of asynchronous videos and synchronous sessions. A series of mini asynchronous videos will explain the theoretical and practical aspects of topics in each module and learners will work through tasks and exercises for further practice. The synchronous sessions will provide teachers with an opportunity to discuss the course material with the instructor and their peers, and to engage in peer learning and reflection activities.
Who Should Take This Course: This course is designed for current and aspiring English language teachers who wish to improve their teaching methods and understand best practices in teaching English as a second language.
