This week, you will be introduced to the essential building blocks of all nutritional intake: Macronutrients (carbohydrates, proteins, and fats) and Micronutrients (vitamins and minerals) as well as the role of each in the survival and maintenance of a healthy body. You will also learn about the critical role water plays for all living organisms.
This week, you will focus on the factors which influence our diets and gain an understanding of the impact, both positive and detrimental, of the major food groups on our bodily processes. Our discussions will center around the concept of an “ideal diet” and what constitutes a healthy diet for each individual.
This week you will explore the different organs and systems which make up our bodies and how these work in harmony for maintenance of health. You will discuss the factors which may imbalance these bodily systems and thus lead to disease. This week will also study the role our digestive system plays in the proper working of all other bodily processes.
This week will be about the impact of certain foods on our mental wellbeing – you will discover foods which heal as well as those which drain the brain. You will also learn about the common causes of mental illnesses and how food can help us in managing our mental health.
This week, you will gain insight into the nutritional wisdom and lifestyles of the longest living cultures in the world as well as learn about practices from these cultures you can incorporate into your own life today.
In the final week, you will learn about metabolism and the different factors which affect it in an individual. You will also find the ways you can tailor your lifestyle according to your unique metabolism to manage a healthy weight and lifestyle.
