We will introduce you to the basics of the 5E instructional model and its benefits. You will find out about the learning outcomes and how this course is different from conventional teaching methods.
We will explore the first phase of the 5E instructional model to explain teaching strategies and merits of engaging students in subject matter discussion. We will also discuss the role of brainstorming and scaffolding techniques in promoting learning and to fire up your students’ enthusiasm
We will develop an in-depth understanding of the Explore phase and examine how critical thinking, active learning and research & reporting can be effectively encouraged in students.
We will deepen our understanding of this phase and explore questions such as: What is scaffolding theory and its implications on teaching? How can students learn from each other?
We will dive deep into this phase and unpack instructional techniques such as differentiated instruction and effective grouping that can facilitate student learning.
We will discuss the purpose of this 5E instructional model phase and unpack the role of effective feedback as well as purposes & type of assessments in context of student learning.
We will bring the 5 phases of the 5E instructional model together to form an effective lesson plan.
Here, we will explore what we have learnt throughout the course, and how it can help you with your teaching going forward.
